McGough brings poetry for adults

MUCH-LOVED poet and children’s author Roger McGough will be making a welcome return to Pershore later this month.

McGough will be taking centre stage at the Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre on Friday, May 23 starting at 7.30pm delivering a new collection of poems for adults from his new book As far As I Know.

Much travelled and translated, McGough’s poetry has gained increasing popularity, especially from its widespread use in schools.

A prolific writer, he is twice winner of the Signal Award for best children’s poetry book. He is also the newly elected president of the Poetry Society.




McGough also presents BBC Radio 4’s long-running Poetry Please programme. In his autobiography titled Said And Done he explores overnight fame with Lily The Pink, The Scaffold and Yellow Submarine which he helped write for the Beatles. He encounters Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Marlon Brando, Allen Ginsberg, Pete McCarthy and Salman Rushdie among others.

McGough’s performance will be followed by a book signing session at the High Street venue.
