THE DISTINCTIVE and authentic sound of one of the biggest guitar bands of all time is coming to Evesham.
Dire Streets will be playing at Evesham Arts Centre on Saturday, April 1, where finger picking guitar ace John Brunsdon will perfectly capture and recreate the authentic sound of Dire Straits.
The tribute band will bring back the classic studio albums and the famous live shows of the 80s, including the legendary Alchemy and Live Aid performances.
The group were one of the major guitar based bands of the late 70s and despite forming at the height of Punk, front man Mark Knopfler’s distinctive guitar picking style gave the band an alternative and instantly recognisable sound, which elevated them to their peak in the mid-80s.
Dire Straits’ record sales have reached over 100 million worldwide to date and Knopfler is still regarded as one of the finest guitarists and songwriters this country has produced.
Brunsdon stepped into the iconic front man’s shoes as lead guitar and vocals, after hearing the Alchemy version of Tunnel of Love on late night Radio Luxembourg in the early 80s.
Brunsdon and his band of accomplished musicians play with an attention to detail and musicianship that has marked them as the stand-out Dire Straits tribute in the UK.
Dire Streets make no attempt to look like the original band, so no headbands or pink suits, just brilliant songs skilfully played with the enthusiasm and respect they deserve.
The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £16 for adults and £15 for members, concessions and groups of eight or more.
