ACCLAIMED one-woman show ‘Bette Davis on the Edge’, written and performed by Christine St John, will take to the stage at Pershore Number 8.

The Vale venue will play host to this nostalgic comedy drama on Thursday (May 2) from 7.30pm as one of the greatest names from the golden age of cinema reflects on a glittering career but a lonely old age.

After discovering the two-time Oscar winner was forced to place an advertisement in a movie trade paper asking for work in 1962, St. John decided to piece together the story behind it.

Her efforts provided the basis for the show which transports audiences back to 4.30am on October 31, 1962, as Davis waits anxiously for the reviews of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.

If the picture is a success, it will hail the start of the comeback for the star, if not it will be a sad and embarrassing epitaph.

As she waits, Davis reflects on her entire career from the ‘talkies’ to the present day.

Tickets are £12 or £11 for Friends of Number 8 members.
