At first glance, Evesham may come across as a quaint, quiet town that does not have much to offer. However, the opposite is true: the town and surrounding countryside are filled with history and beautiful landscapes. It offers something to fit most tastes, and in this article we’re going to take a look at what visitors can experience in the town.

Community Events and Festivals

Evesham has a vibrant community spirit, and one that can be seen through the numerous events that are organised throughout the year. For example, several bingo nights are held annually, which give the bingo lovers in the town the chance to play. With bingo’s resurgence in popularity of late, players can now play online live bingo, or they can play in person. Whichever version players choose to play, they can expect themed nights, such as saloon or magic bingo, that offer the complete bingo experience. In Evesham, players can find in-person games in town, such as the local football club.

Another event, one which some may find amusing, is the town’s asparagus festival, which coincides with the area’s harvest. Visitors can find food stalls, cooking demonstrations, as well as a parade to keep everyone entertained, even those who don’t like asparagus!

Historic Evesham

Much like many other towns in the UK, Evesham has a historical Abbey. It dates back to the 8th century and was once one of the largest monasteries in the country. Although some of it has been destroyed through the years, the setting still retains many structures dating back to that time. The bell tower is probably the most significant of these. The surrounding area and parkland provide a beautiful environment for visitors to walk around once they are done learning about the historical architecture.

To learn more about the history of the town, tourists can organise a visit to Almonry Museum and Heritage Centre. It sits in a building from the 14th century and gives visitors a chance to see artefacts and look at the town’s past from prehistoric times to the current day.

River Avon and Other Activities

The River Avon flows through Evesham and brings with it plenty of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy, such as boat trips, fishing, and walks along the water. The annual River Festival could be an ideal time to visit too, with the town filled with even more activities.

The Vale of Evesham and the Evesham Country Park give those seeking more outdoor time the chance to experience more of Evesham. The village is often referred to as the ‘Garden of England’ because of its orchards and farmland, which provide lovely scenery for tourists to take a scenic drive through and create memories of Evesham. The Country Park is an ideal destination with walking trails as well as seasonal events and markets to enjoy.

Although a small town, Evesham has plenty of attractions that can be enjoyed. Filled with attractions that offer glimpses of history or connections to nature, the town offers a unique experience for residents or visitors to enjoy.
