Classic tale of Richard’s fate

Evesham Editorial 9th Jan, 2019   0

THE TALE OF Richard II will be brought to life with a show at Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre.

Simon Russell Beale plays Shakespeare’s Richard II in this visceral new production exploring the limits of power directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins (Little Revolution, Absolute Hell).

Richard is irresponsible, foolish and vain. His weak leadership sends his kingdom into disarray and his court into uproar.

Seeing no other option but to seize power, the ambitious Bolingbroke challenges the throne and the king’s divine right to rule.

Simon Russell Beale returns to National Theatre Live screens following broadcasts of Timon of Athens and King Lear and his recent role in the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of The Lehman Trilogy.

The show will be broadcast from the Almeida Theatre in London direct to the Number 8 on Tuesday (January 15) from 7pm.

Tickets are £15 and £10 for students and available from the Box Office on 01386 555488.
