Billie stars in a powerful play

Evesham Editorial 10th Aug, 2017   0

THE ENDLESSLY talented Billie Piper returns to the stage in an extraordinarily tragic and powerful performance about a young woman in rural Spain.

Aired live from the Young Vic Theatre in London, Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre is inviting residents to the performance of ‘Yerma’ on Thursday, August 31.

Piper, known for her roles in Penny Dreadful and Doctor Who, returns in her Evening Standard Best Actress award-winning role as a young woman who is driven to the unthinkable by her desperate desire to have a child in Simon Stone’s radical production of Lorca’s achingly powerful masterpiece.

The unmissable theatre phenomenon has already sold out at the Young Vic and critics are calling it ‘an extraordinary theatrical triumph’.

Piper’s spellbinding portrayal of a woman in her thirties desperate to conceive builds with elemental force to a staggering, shocking, climax.

The event starts at 7pm and tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for students, and includes an 85p booking fee if bought online.

Call the centre’s Box Office on 01386 555488 or visit www.number8.org for more information.
