COX’S Yard, one of Stratford-upon-Avon’s most iconic riverside pubs, is set to undergo an exciting transformation this summer with a major refurbishment project.
Taking place from 2nd June – 4th July, the £355k upgrade promises to elevate the pub experience for locals and visitors alike – all while preserving the warm, welcoming character that Cox’s Yard has become synonymous with.
As part of the works, the internal layout of the site will be reconfigured, with the introduction of new furnishings to provide more areas for customers to socialise with friends and family. A new enclosed outdoor area will be developed, meaning customers can continue to benefit from the external terrace whatever the British weather conjures up.
To cement Cox’s Yard’s reputation as one of the best venues for bringing the local community together, two state-of-the-art interactive darts lanes will be installed as part of the refurbishment. Customers will be able to channel their inner Luke Littler and manifest the powers of mighty Michael van Gerwen, all while enjoying the high-quality food and drink on offer. As well as new interactive darts, a shuffleboard table will be introduced, creating a hub for competitive socialising in Stratford.
For customers looking for an informal ‘grab and go’ style offer, Josephine’s Café area will be rebranded and transformed to feature a brand-new deli-style counter, serving seasonal savoury and sweet options, American-style milkshakes and ice creams which can be enjoyed with stunning views across the River Avon. The all-new Café will further boast a bar top with power and plug sockets, providing the perfect alternative daytime space for home workers.

The site has so much to offer the local community, and the renovation works will allow us to create new spaces that can be utilised for all occasions. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in to experience the new look – it’s going to be worth the wait!”
For most of the work, Cox’s Yard will remain, with construction taking place in phases to minimise disruption. During the final part of the refurbishment (23rd – 30th June), the venue will be fully closed to ensure the safety of all guests.
