Armatrading coming back to Regal this summer

FOLLOWING her sell out success at the Regal, singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading will return to Evesham this summer.

The three times Grammy nominated and the very first UK female singer/songwriter to gain international success wowed an audience during her show on Sunday (May 24).

And she is set to dazzle again when she returns to the Port Street venue for a much-anticipated encore on Friday, August 7.

Joan has enjoyed a long and illustrious career with success in all musical genres including pop, blues, folk, reggae, and jazz.

Her show will see the popular musician perform songs that span her entire career so far with a guaranteed mix of magical old favourites including Love and Affection, Willow, Drop The Pilot and Me, Myself I, as well as more recent compositions to fall in love with.

Armatrading, who spent part of her childhood living in Birmingham, said; “I will never retire but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake.

“For the first time these concerts will be me solo on stage playing the guitar, piano and singing. I want these concerts to be a special lively interactive one to one experience.

“I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience,” she added.

Laurence Wiper, Live Events Manager at The Regal Cinema, said; “We are honoured to be welcoming Joan back to The Regal for a second night later this year.

“Joan’s performance on Sunday was extremely special and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
