AnimeCon UK returns to NEC this weekend

Evesham Editorial 14th Jun, 2024   0

GET ready for an epic weekend as AnimeCon UK returns to the NEC Birmingham on June 15 and 16.

The largest celebration of manga and Otaku culture in the UK promises an unforgettable experience, bringing together artists, exhibitors, and anime enthusiasts from across the globe under one enormous roof.

This year’s AnimeCon will feature star-studded appearances from notable figures in the anime world, including Genshin Impact stars Alejandro Saab and Josey Montana McCoy.

Fans of My Hero Academia are in for a treat with cast members Zeno Robinson, Megan Shipman, Jamie Marchi, and Natalie Van Sistine all set to attend.

Following a monumental debut in London earlier this year, AnimeCon UK returns to Birmingham, bigger and better than ever.

The convention boasts an expanded Artist Alley, featuring over 270 artists and exhibitors, making it the UK’s largest anime-themed market.

Among the voice actors making appearances, Alejandro Saab is a fan-favorite, known for his roles as Cyno in Genshin Impact and Gabimaru in Hell’s Paradise.

Alejandro also runs a popular anime YouTube channel, Kaggyfilms. Joining him is Zeno Robinson, acclaimed for his versatile performances in anime series like Pokémon and My Hero Academia.

Zeno will be accompanied by three other cast members from the prestigious hero school anime.

Jamie Marchi, renowned for her roles in My Hero Academia and the Borderlands video games, will also be present.

Multi-talented Natalie Van Sistine, known for her roles in My Hero Academia and Spy X Family, as well as her work as a post-production audio engineer and game designer, is another exciting addition to the lineup.

Fans will also have the opportunity to meet Megan Shipman, an actress and ADR director known for her roles as Anya Forger in Spy X Family and Camie in One Piece.

Megan balances her acting career with directing roles in anime like Show by Rock: Mashumairesh! After having to reschedule from the London show earlier this year, Josey Montana McCoy will finally make his appearance at the NEC.

Josey is best known for voicing Kaeya in Genshin Impact and the inquisitive Batwheels villain, Quizz.

K-Pop idol LIYVZ will energise the crowd with her performances of original material and covers of the biggest K-Pop hits.

More guest appearances are expected to be announced, so fans should stay tuned for updates.

In addition to celebrity meet-and-greets, AnimeCon UK offers a variety of entertainment options, including a Silent Disco, Origami Craft Workshops, an anime-themed Graffiti Wall, and a Maid Café.

Attendees can walk the Cosplay Catwalk, participate in talks, panels, and live podcasts, watch their favorite anime in the film festival area, attend cosplay meet-ups, and join the famous Anime Afterparty where cosplay is actively encouraged.

Tickets for AnimeCon UK are available on the official website, starting at £20.00+VAT & BF for Saturday and £17.50+VAT & BF for Sunday.
