A chance to take a look at artist’s work

Evesham Editorial 19th Mar, 2020   0

ONE OF Worcestershire’s finest and best-loved artists will be mounting a major exhibition of his works at Elgar’s Birthplace Museum, The Firs, at Broadheath, near Worcester.

David Birtwhistle is famed for his evocative landscapes and pastoral scenes, largely inspired by the Worcestershire countryside, and his exhibition will be running throughout the Spring at what has become for David almost a spiritual home.

He has been particularly inspired by Worcestershire’s most famous son, Sir Edward Elgar and many of his paintings feature The Firs and other landmarks, such as the Malvern Hills, which were themselves major inspirations for Elgar’s music.

The exhibition will run every day from 10am to 5pm in the Visitor Centre’s Carice Room – and all of the paintings on display will be available for sale. Prints and postcards derived from the original paintings will also be available.

“David is a well-known and loved Worcestershire artist and we are extremely happy for his return to the Carice room, said Kirsty Bothma, Visitor Experience Manager at The Firs.

‘David and his wife Linda have both been visitors to the birthplace and local National Trust sites for many years as well as being Worcestershire residents.

“His display of paintings is just one part of our exciting programme of art, music and theatre exhibitions planned for The Firs in the year to come”
