10 Fun Things to Do Online at Home When Bored

Evesham Editorial 26th Aug, 2022   0

The internet is easily one of the greatest inventions ever. It has revolutionised and changed almost every aspect of our lives and has opened us all up to brand new opportunities that we otherwise wouldn’t have access to.

Even when you get bored, the internet is there to save the day with endless amounts of things you can do to pass the time. From mobile slots to learning how to code, here are 10 things to do online when you are bored.

Learn a Skill

There are hundreds of websites and platforms out there that can help you learn almost any skill. You can go the free route and use YouTube to learn how to code, play the guitar, or how to trade stocks.

If you want something more advanced, websites such as Masterclass and uDemy have classes that can teach you new languages, how to write a book, basic plumbing, and almost everything in between.

Play Games

Online games have taken over the world, and with thousands to choose from, you are sure to find one you love. Some of the biggest are Warzone and League of Legends, each with hundreds of thousands of daily players.

You can also play the online versions of your favourite games if you want. Minecraft has been one of the biggest games ever since it was released, and you can play with or against strangers and friends online whenever you want.

Podcasts

Podcasts have become one of the most popular ways to consume media over the past few years. With endless options to choose from, there is a podcast for anyone. Spotify, iTunes, and multiple other platforms can meet all of your podcast needs.

Start a Blog

Starting a blog online takes less than five minutes and only requires a few clicks. Whether you choose to create an online journal, review products, or use your blog space to share opinions, you can do and say almost anything you want.

If you don’t want to go through the effort of setting up your own blog, sites like Medium do all the hard work for you and have a user-friendly writing platform to get your posts published quickly.

Explore Reddit

Reddit may have a slightly tarnished reputation to some, but this is almost entirely undeserved. This enormous posting board has so much information available that it is hard to know where to start. You can watch videos, read the news, learn something, or simply connect with and learn from other people.

Virtual Tours

More and more museums and cities have taken it upon themselves to let tourists explore them without having to actually travel there. Virtual tours take you to all the best sites and let you explore a city or museum from the comfort of your own home.

Join a Learning Platform

Platforms like Masterclass and uDemy have already been mentioned, but numerous other online learning platforms give you access to high-level courses and training to help you improve or learn a new skill.

Beyond that, many of these sites also offer certificates or recognised qualifications. This means you can learn and improve your job, salary, etc.

Stream Movies and Series

There is no better way to watch a movie or series than by streaming it. Platforms such as Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, and many others have thousands of titles available for you to watch whenever you want.

Shop

This may seem obvious, but online shopping has quickly become substantially better than shopping in brick-and-mortar stores. Not only is there far more selection, but you also often get much better deals.

Online stores will often have tons of sales and discounts going on, meaning you can pick up almost anything you want at a better price compared to a regular store.

Start an Online Business

This may take some time and is not something you can do in an hour, but you can start an online business. You don’t need much experience or training, and sites like Etsy and Shopify do most of the hard work for you.

If you like to draw, paint, sculpt, or create something as a hobby,  you can set up a virtual storefront in a few hours and start selling what you create. It is more work compared to other things on this list, but it is a worthwhile endeavour if you can commit the time to it.
