FORTY of Broadway Golf Club’s ladies gathered on a day which provided some extremely pleasant late summer sunshine to compete in the Rover Trophy and Daily Mail Foursomes, which brought pairs out to play.

With conditions set fair, some excellent scores came in, and it was Barbara Bate and Chris Moulder who were victorious with a magnificent 71.5 nett, making them winners of the Rover Trophy and also giving them the opportunity to go on to represent Broadway at the national Daily Mail Foursomes.

Taking second place with a commendable 75.5 nett were Jenny Bruton and Pam Hooper, leaving Kathryn Morris and Julia Ward to take third spot with 78.5.

The men’s Medal then took place over the weekend and, again, members continued to produce some spectacular golf.

With a field of 90 players, there was some fierce competition. Division One winners were brothers Gary and Paul Evans who earned a superb 67 nett, with Gary achieving first and Paul second place on countback, but bringing in best gross of 73.

In Division Two, Thomas Collins came in with an astonishing 63 nett to give him the winning title, with David Kelsall taking runner-up position with 69.
