BRETFORTON Ladies are still struggling to find their feet as they try to reform in this important season, although not through lack of effort or commitment, luck just does not seem to be on their side at the moment.

The two teams swapped positions in the table after Saturday’s result and this sees the Pink Ladies drop to second bottom.

There were, however, plenty of positives to be taken from this game. With several of the girls playing in new positions, it was always going to be tricky, but the girls must find a way to get back to their winning ways and also to keep smiling!

Player of the match Amy Pinkney was tireless on the right and linked really well with Danni Cox to cause Chippenham problems with their pace.

Bret’s job was made all the harder when stalwart left back Heather Carr was forced from the pitch in the first half with a nasty injury.

Sophie Hamilton stepped up and took over the position for the rest of the game and was an able replacement.

Although another heavy defeat for the defence to take, no goals were conceded from short corners, which is another plus.

Thanks go to Julie Stowe, John and Les for umpiring and their supporters for turning out in such horrendous conditions.

Saturday brings probably one of the toughest games of the season in the shape of a visit to Hereford.

Saturday’s match was sponsored by Cotswold Chemicals & Lubricants.

BRET Ladies 2nds made it a hat-trick of league victories with a resounding success at Cirencester.

After just three minutes Julie Hall made a great solo run down the left wing and into the D before slotting home and six minutes later it was 2-0 when a fine run down the right wing by Hannah Dufty ended with her putting in a great pass to Ness Dufty whose shot on goal was initially blocked by the keeper, only for the rebound to be put in by Andrea Cole.

Bretforton kept the pressure up with great work down the right wing by player of the match Hannah Dufty, well supported by Meg Betteridge at right back. The few sorties made by Cirencester came to an abrupt end due to some fine tackling by central defenders Holly Hutchison, Lesley MacKinnon and Jemima Hutchison.

Cirencester conceded a number of short corners and Ness Dufty was unlucky not to score with her shot a fraction wide of the post but it was 3-0 just before the break when Alice Cook struck following Cole’s short corner.

In the second half Ness Dufty surged towards the edge of the D and produced a pinpoint cross to Hall who slotted the ball home for her second goal into the goal.

The hosts pulled a goal back before Ness Dufty saw a strike ruled out and Hall then completed her hat-trick from yet another short corner taken by Lucy Cole to Cook, back to Cole, whose cross across the goalline found Hall waiting at the right hand post to touch the ball home.

The win, sponsored by Posh Nosh, has lifted Bret into fourth place ahead of Saturday’s visit of Gloucester 4ths.
