Warriors duo in line for further England chance

WARRIORS stars Ted Hill and Ollie Lawrence have both been retained by England in a 32-man squad ahead of Sunday’s Quilter Cup clash.

The two Warriors were selected in last week’s training camp and will continue with the national team as England take on the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.

Centre Lawrence is uncapped but has been involved in an England training squad before in the summer of 2018 when he was invited to a camp in Brighton ahead of the tour to South Africa while he was still a member of the Three Pears Warriors Academy.

Warriors skipper Hill already has a senior cap to his name, having made his debut as a replacement against Japan at Twickenham in November 2018, and was also involved in camps during the Guinness Six Nations earlier this year.

England Head coach Eddie Jones said: “This is an important game for us and we’re looking forward to getting back to Twickenham and playing rugby.

“We’ve had two really good camps, going back to basics and how we want to play. The Barbarians squad has a rich blend of talent, so this week we’ll be testing ourselves under pressure and looking to take our game to the next level.”

Following the Quilter Cup, which is an uncapped fixture, England will travel to Rome to face Italy in the final round of the delayed 2020 Guinness Six Nations next Saturday.

England will then play four matches as part of the Autumn Nations Cup, returning to Twickenham Stadium for Quilter Internationals against Georgia on November 14 and Ireland a week later on Saturday, November 21.

They will then face Wales away on November 28 before a final fixture at home with an opponent to be determined on December 6 to sort out the final position in the competition.
