Sixways to host Red Roses international clash

Evesham Editorial 7th Sep, 2021   0

SIXWAYS will play host to England Women when they take on USA in their final autumn international match on Sunday November 21 (kick-off 2.45pm).

It will be the Red Roses’ first match at Sixways in over a decade, with the last meeting being a Six Nations win against Les Bleues in 2011.

Warriors’ very own Lydia Thompson, Laura Keates and Alex Matthews could be involved for England, while USA’s Alycia Washington will be in contention for selection.

“We are delighted that the RFU has chosen Sixways to host the Red Roses against USA this autumn, an occasion that will certainly capture the imagination of the local community and wider region,” said Warriors managing director Peter Kelly.

“Warriors Women have made significant progress both on and off the pitch in recent seasons, and this announcement will further boost interest and participation in women’s rugby in the lead up to next year’s World Cup in New Zealand.”

England take on New Zealand, firstly at Sandy Park, Exeter (Sunday October 31, kick-off 2.30pm) before a second meeting with the Black Ferns at Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton (Sunday November 7, kick-off 2.45pm).

England then return to Twickenham Stoop to host third-ranked in the world Canada (Sunday November 14, kick-off 2.30pm) before completing their autumn programme at Sixways seven days later.

“I love Worcester as a club, always see them as a strong community club and it’s great to take a game there in the way we’ve taken it to other hotbeds. It’s another fantastic stadium which has a great feel and a great vibe,” said England head coach Simon Middleton.

Priority Tickets will be available exclusively for O2 customers via Priority for 48 hours from tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10am and available via general sale from Friday at 11am from englandrugby.com/tickets and club ticket websites.

Broadcast details will be confirmed in due course.
