Search for missing Jesse leads officers to Corley

Evesham Editorial 23rd Jun, 2020   0

THE LONG-RUNNING investigation into the murder of a father-of-three in Evesham more than a decade ago has led officers to an address in Warwickshire.

Jesse Richards was killed in Cleeve Prior in a merciless and sustained attack over a drugs debt in 2009.

In 2012, five men were jailed in connection with the 40-year-old’s death, collectively sentenced to more than 50 years in prison.

But despite the convictions, Jesse’s body was never found.

Detectives believe the body was originally taken to Warwickshire where it was hidden.

Searches have taken place at a site near Corley as recently as May 2018 but nothing of significance was found.

West Mercia Police confirmed yesterday (Monday) officers were searching a property in Smorral Lane in Corley as part of the ongoing investigation.

Searches will continue at the site this morning (Tuesday) and a cordon remains at the scene.

Detective Insp Mark Peters said: “Our officers remain at the scene and I would like to take this opportunity to again appeal to members of the public who may have information that could assist us in our search for Jesse.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call 101 quoting 204-s-220620.
