Road closures planned as revamped junction takes shape

Evesham Editorial 29th Jul, 2020   0

WORKS are progressing on the scheme to improve traffic flow at Pinvin Junction in Pershore, with the new look junction starting to take shape.

Works are currently underway on the extension of the A44 north-west of the junction to accommodate additional right-hand turn capacity. Works are also taking place on the kerbing and installation of a new footpath on the south-east side of the A44 towards White Logistics.

Earlier this year the new slip road, linking Main Street with the A44 was opened to vehicles enabling a direct left-hand turn onto the A44 from Pinvin.

Various utility companies, including Severn Trent Water, Wales and West gas, and BT Openreach have regularly been on site to carry out works on rerouting utilities.

Coun Ken Pollock, cabinet member for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “Work is progressing nicely on this scheme and the future look of the junction is really coming together.”

“These works at Pinvin Junction are essential in order to improve traffic flow for local residents and commuters using the route.”

To allow some of the works to progress, a road closure is needed to complete the ducting and kerbing of Terrace Road. The closure between the junction of the A4104/A44 for 100metres of Terrace Road towards the railway station from August 8 to 23. Diversions will be in place during this closure.

The works to help ease congestion at Pinvin Junction are part of the wider Pershore Infrastructure Improvement Scheme, which has already seen works at the Station Road/Wyre Road junction and will include the construction of the Pershore Northern Link Road.
