THE NATIONAL Gardens Scheme has another varied selection of picturesque Worcestershire gardens to explore this weekend with the return of open days.
Bank Farm’s garden is a half acre of densely mixed borders and beds set in farmland with unusual trees, a water feature and a meadow which is in progress. It is open Saturday June 22 and Sunday 23 from 1pm to 5pm.
Holly Cottage is open from 11am to 4pm, on Sunday (June 23) and consists of a half acre garden that contains a cottage garden border, jungle area, formal garden, rose borders, and a small orchard. It also features a Mediterranean area and is also home to chickens and miniature donkeys.
Summercoombe is also open from 11am to 4pm on Sunday and visitors will find a collection of specimen trees and over 30 varieties of roses entwined with shrubs and perennials. A variety of fruit trees, walled garden and a productive vegetable patch also feature.
All gardens will be serving a selection of refreshments and admission costs £5 for adults.
Other gardens that will be open are Welland, where there is another opportunity to visit Restharrow from 1.30pm to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday to explore one-and-a-half acres of field and woodland with stunning rural views of the Malvern Hills.
Walnut Cottage garden in Bricklehampton, Pershore, with views of Bredon Hill will be open both days from 2pm to 5pm and Worcester’s lost garden, The River School, which is currently under restoration will be open on Saturday from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
The National Garden Scheme provides members of the public with unique access to over 3,500 private gardens in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It has raised more than £70million for nursing and health charities through admission fees, teas and cake.
