LABOUR chiefs in Mid Worcestershire have taken the wraps off the first candidates to contest wards in Evesham and the surrounding areas in this year’s local elections.
Wychavon District Council elections are taking place on May 4, alongside town and parish elections with candidates for those to be announced in the coming weeks.
The first wave of four included Mary Campbell who will contest the Badsey and Aldington seat, Mary Tasker and David Tasker who will fight the Evesham North seats and Heather Kelleher whose name will be on the ballot in Hampton.
Mid Worcestershire constituency party chair Alex Knudsen, said: “I am pleased to have such a strong set of candidates in this first announcement, who I know will be working tirelessly to earn your trust and your vote as we move towards the elections in May.”
Labour’s official campaign launch will take place on April 1 at the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich where party members will welcome Jess Phillips MP as guest speaker.
“I’m thrilled to have both a brilliant guest speaker in Jess Philips and a fantastic venue in the Norbury Theatre and I would like to extend my utmost thanks to both for making this possible,” Mr Knudsen added.
