THE NERVOUS wait for hundreds of students across the Vale was brought to an end yesterday as they finally found out their A Level results.

Top teenagers at the De Montfort School, Prince Henry’s High School and Pershore High School joined thousands nationally to find out whether their university, apprenticeship and employment dreams would be realised.

Students and staff at Prince Henry’s are celebrating after the school achieved an overall pass rate of 99.5 per cent. 32 per cent of all grades were scored A* to A, 60 per cent were A* to B and an impressive 87 per cent of students achieved A* to C grades.

The Victoria Avenue school’s top performer was Isaac Pillar who achieved four A* grades. Students Thomas Albertini, Jamie Blackler, Eme Ikpeme and Yva Petit all gained an amazing three A*s and one A.

Four students will be heading off to either Oxford or Cambridge, and the vast majority of Prince Henry’s students have secured their choice places at university.

Headteacher Dr Tony Evans said: “My staff and I are delighted with the performances that we have seen this year.

“These are truly wonderful achievements and are a testament to the hard work of the students, their parents and the teachers who have supported them.

“We wish all our Year 13 students every success with their future careers. They have been a wonderful year group and we are all very proud of them.”

Pershore High School saw 99 per cent of its students’ results graded A* to E. 75 per cent of all grades achieved were A* to C, with 45 per cent at A*, A or B and 19 per cent of entries at grades A* to A.

Among the top performers at the Station Road school was Sigmund Rummey who scored three A*s and one A and Charlotte Bradley with her two A*s and two A grades.

A number of the school’s students are now off to university, with some off to study medicine, mathematics, journalism, and politics to name just a few, with many others off to begin their Higher Level Apprenticeships.

Headteacher Clive Corbett said: “In this, the 38th year of my involvement in examinations, I need to remind our youngsters and their parents that A’ levels continue to provide an exceptionally rigorous challenge.

“Success therefore is not easily achieved, and I would like to offer all of our students my best wishes in their future endeavours.”

The headteacher of The De Montfort School, Guy Nichols, praised the schools A Level and BTEC results.

“We are very proud of our students’ successes and it is great that they really appreciate the commitment and dedication they have received from our wonderful staff here at TDMS who have turned out in large numbers to share this moment with them.

“It is an emotional time and the end of our students’ journey at TDMS and we would like to thank them for the contribution they have made to our school.

“We are also delighted that our AS results were very encouraging.”
