A YOUNG swimmer from Evesham has now been crowned West Midlands Regional Open Water Champion after a lot of success in the sport.
Milton Xavier, who is 12, has already won five regional titles at the championships has now added this latest title to his collection.
Earlier in the year he claimed 17 championship titles at Worcester County Championships 2024.
Milton swam a 1,000m race and claimed victory with a time of 13mins 50.23secs.
This was the youngster’s debut outdoor competition after transitioning from indoor swimming to open water.
He competed in the 11/12 year old age category against a total of 20 competitors from other regions including the South West, East Midlands and West Midlands.
The event was held on Sunday at Lake 86 in Cirencester.
Milton currently trains with City of Coventry Swimming Club and Evesham Swimming Club.
Milton said: “I would like to thank both swimming clubs and all my coaches who have helped me make the smooth transition from competitive swimming indoors to open water.”
