SENIOR MP’s from the Conservative party have begun descending on Droitwich and Evesham to support their parliamentary candidate ahead of July’s general election.

Mid Worcestershire MP, Nigel Huddleston welcomed former cabinet minister, Robert Jenrick, and current security minister, Tom Tugendhat, to Worcestershire in the first full week of campaigning.

Huddleston held two separate events during the visit. A dinner was hosted with Robert Jenrick on May 24 in Cutnall Green, in the far north of the newly named Droitwich and Evesham constituency.

Later, on May 28, Mr Huddleston held a discussion about security issues with Tom Tugendhat held in the south of the constituency, in Broadway.

Several local leading Conservative figures joined Nigel at these events.

Nigel Huddleston said: “I was delighted to welcome two good friends and colleagues to the constituency in the first week of the election campaign.

“I have known both Robert and Tom for many years and I really appreciated them taking time out of their hectic schedules to spend time with me, activists and constituents.

“Both guests went down very well and shared views and insights about the current challenges facing the UK and the world, and also their positive long term vision for our country. I told them both they were welcome back any time.”

A host of other political parties have joined the parliamentary race in Droitwich and Evesham. The seat, formerly known as Mid Worcestershire, has been held by the Conservative Party since 1983.

Reform UK will put forward Sam Barstow; the Social Democratic Party hope to see Andrew Flaxman take the seat; the Green Party have their bets on Neil Franks while the Labour Party are bidding on Chipiliro Kalebe-Nyamongo and the Liberal Democrats are putting their trust in Oliver Walker.
