THE MP for Droitwich, Nigel Hudleston has been championing things to do in the county as part of English Tourism Week which begins today (Friday).

The event – organised by Visit Britain – runs until next Sunday, March 24.

This year’s theme for English Tourism Week is ‘Supporting tourism, the heart of our communities,’ and the campaign aims to raise awareness of the tourism industry and highlight the quality and value that English tourism can offer.

Mr Huddlston said: “Tourism is an important part of the local economy in Worcestershire, contributing over £939million to the local economy in 2022 alone. “I am fortunate to represent an area which attracts many tourists due to its natural beauty, tourism attractions, events, and hospitality venues including some award winning hotels. Some highlights include Broadway and

Broadway Tower in the south, to Hartlebury Castle in the North, and also attractions such as All Things Wild and the Spetchley Park Estate.”

Spetchley Park Estate and Gardens is one location attraction celebrating English Tourism Week.

The estate’s gardens re-open for their new season on Wednesday, March 20.

Sarah Bird, Spetchley Park estate and gardens operations manager, said: “We can’t wait to re-open our beautiful gardens to the public, and the fact that we’re re-opening for a new season in the middle of English Tourism Week is a lovely way to remind the local community what we can offer.

“At the heart of Spetchley is a family vision with a passion to restore, sustain and enhance our heritage, and English Tourism week is a great opportunity to encourage visitors to come and share our passion.”

All Things Wild, a zoo and farm park located near Evesham is another local attraction celebrating English Tourism Week.

The venue’s project development manager Vicky Faller said: “English Tourism Week is our chance to spotlight All Things Wild to the local community.

“We always strive to improve our relationship with community groups and offer a diverse range of activities for all ages, with fun and education at the heart of everything we do.”
