Do not miss your chance to vote in July's general election urges Wychavon

RESIDENTS in Wychavon are urged to look out for their poll card as the deadline for registering to vote in this year’s general election is fast approaching.

Poll cards were sent out to households across Wychavon last week. Anyone who hasn’t yet received their poll card should contact Wychavon’s elections team as soon as possible, as it may mean they are not registered to vote.

The deadline to register is 11.59pm on Tuesday, June 18. Postal vote applications must be made by 5pm on June 19 and proxy vote applications – where someone is nominated to vote for someone else – must be made by 5pm on June 26.

Voters will need to show an accepted form of voter ID, such as a UK passport or driving licence, at a polling station before they will be allowed to vote.

Poll cards will also have details of which parliamentary constituency an area is in and the location of polling stations. People should check this carefully, as changes have been made to parliamentary constituency boundaries following a review in 2023.

Vic Allison, acting returning officer for the Droitwich and Evesham Parliamentary Constituency, said: “Poll cards should have been delivered by now so if you haven’t had one, please check with us before it’s too late as we don’t want anyone to miss out on having their say.

“Please also take five minutes to check you have the right photo ID and if you haven’t, make sure you apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate to avoid disappointment on polling day.”

Most of Wychavon is in the new seat of Droitwich and Evesham but some, including the majority of Dodderhill ward, Harvington and Norton and Inkberrow wards, are in the Redditch seat. Bredon, Bredon Hill, Eckington, Pershore and part of Broadway, Sedgeberrow and Childswickham wards are in the unchanged West Worcestershire constituency.
