Delightful gardens on display at Eckington festival

GREEN-FINGERED garden lovers are in for a treat in Evesham as the town looks set to welcome a festival of all things greenery and flowers.

The Open Gardens & Flower Festival in the Worcestershire village of Eckington, near Pershore.

Large and small houses are opening their grounds on May 18 and 19, many of which have statuary and extensive flower beds.

Dozens of village gardens will be displaying scarecrows, all dressed with a Paris Olympics theme. A free bus will tour the village with stops at most attractions.

Other attractions include a flower display in the church and stalls selling flowers, plants, home-made foods, craft-wares and books.

The event is organised every year by Holy Trinity church in the centre of this North Cotswolds village, just a few miles from Worcester & Gloucester Cathedrals, Pershore & Tewkesbury Abbeys.




One of the organisers, Karen Sagar said: “After the gloom of a wet Spring, here is another chance for everyone to explore and enjoy a fun day out. It all helps keep our lovely old church in good shape.”

The ‘All Attractions’ entrance pass is free for children and £7 per adult from the church or village Recreation Centre, sold between 10am and 5pm, both days.
