County's Summer Reading Challenge returns for 2024

Evesham Editorial 8th Jul, 2024   0

WORCESTERSHIRE’S Summer Reading Challenge is back for 2024 and this year’s theme is all about getting creative.

The scheme is the perfect way for parents to get their children reading over the school holidays

Youngsters can take part in the challenge at all Worcestershire libraries between now and September 14.

The challenge is free for children between the ages of four and 11. It does not require any forms – they just need to visit their local library and choose the books they want to read.

The goal is to read six books by the end of the summer holidays and those who complete the task will receive a medal and a certificate.

Worcestershire libraries also have activities for children to enjoy during the summer break.

The reading challenge aims to keep young minds active and prevent literature loss which many children can experience over the six weeks.

Karen Napier, CEO of The Reading Agency, added: “The Summer Reading Challenge sparks children’s creativity and imagination through reading.”
