Council flies Pride flag for LGBT+ History Month

Evesham Editorial 15th Feb, 2021   0

COUNCIL chiefs are flying the rainbow flag in celebration of LGBT+ History Month.

LGBT+ History Month is an annual celebration which runs throughout February and aims to promote equality and inclusivity. It also aims to teach people about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.

In support of the event, the Pride flag is being flown outside the Civic Centre in Pershore.

Coun Bradley Thomas, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “In Wychavon we want to promote the message of acceptance and equality. By flying the Pride flag we are showing our support for the LGBT+ community.”

Out2gether is a South-Worcestershire based group for the LGBT+ community, their friends and allies which was established in 2017. Throughout this month, they are holding virtual events on their Facebook page including quizzes, guest speakers and more.
