Civic Centre is Pershore dementia cafe's new home

A LEADING Dementia café has opened its doors in a new home at Pershore Civic Centre.

Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire (H&W)’s Wick Dementia Cafe welcomed members to the new location for the first time last week.

Situated in central Pershore, the Civic Centre has a long-stay car park for members to use, shops nearby, as well as the Avon Meadows Wetlands just a short walk away.

Age UK H&W chiefs hope this new location will be more accessible for those who wish to come along and will encourage new members to attend.

The cafe is set to regularly play host to a multitude of engaging and exciting activities and events, while also offering attendees the chance to connect over a cup of tea and cake.

Age UK H&W’s cafes are free and have a primary aim to provide support and information for people living with mild to moderate dementia, their carers, friends and family.

Organisers hope the cafes are a great place for carers to let off some steam and have the chance to chat and engage with other carers who may face similar challenges.

Dementia services manager Kelly Reeves said:

“We are hoping this more centralised location in the heart of the town will be more accessible for people living in Worcestershire with a dementia diagnosis to attend.

“The group offers support, friendship and access to advice and signposting, along with the opportunity to have lots of fun and experience new things.”

“I’d like to extend a big thank you to Wychavon District Council for supporting us with the use of the venue to enable us to provide this much needed community service. “
