POLICE are trying to track down a man who tried to steal or damage a gravestone in the cemetery on Waterside in Evesham.

The incident happened around 11.20am today (Thursday, June 20).

A member of the public challenged him.

This followed reports of the same man being seen the day before acting suspiciously in the cemetery.

The man was in his mid-30s, Asian, short and with a beard. He was also wearing a red hoody and a blue Parka.

Anyone who sees him or knows who he is should call police on 999 or 101.

Evesham Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “There will be a visible Police presence in the area over the next few days to deter any similar incidents or identify who this male is.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify him.”
