Evesham, a picturesque market town nestled in the heart of Worcestershire, is set to host an array of exciting events in the coming months. These gatherings aim to bring the community together and attract visitors from surrounding areas. From traditional festivals to modern entertainment, there’s something for everyone.

Evesham Festival of Words Quiz Night

The Evesham Festival of Words Quiz Night is an eagerly awaited event, held every year since the festival began. Helen Yendall and Chris Cherry, who have been quiz masters from the start, are back to challenge your knowledge with their fun questions. The quiz will cover everything from song lyrics and poems to book titles and the meanings of different words.

As always, the quiz will focus on language and words, making it a favourite for those who love reading and writing. This year, it’s happening at Raphael’s on June 28, 2024. Raphael’s is known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it the ideal spot for a night of friendly competition and learning. The venue also offers public Wi-Fi connectivity. During breaks, attendees have the opportunity to put up their videos on YouTube, play online slots, and catch up on their social media should they wish to.

Battle of Evesham Medieval Festival

Step back in time at the Battle of Evesham Medieval Festival, taking place on August 3rd and 4th, 2024, at Crown and Corporation Meadows in Evesham. This event is free and open to everyone, offering a full weekend of mediaeval excitement and education. You’ll see history come to life as re-enactors from across the country recreate the famous Battle of Evesham, a key moment that helped shape the democracy we have today.

Aside from the thrilling battle scenes, the festival will feature a mediaeval camp where you can explore how people lived in the 13th century. Learn about old cooking methods, see weapons from the era, and find out how they managed healthcare with period medicine demonstrations. There will be a grand parade with knights in armour, mediaeval music, dance, and even a mini Trebuchet launch.

For families, there are treasure trails and activities, along with falconry and equine displays. Enjoy a variety of food and drink options at the stalls, and maybe even catch some traditional crafts in action. This festival is a great way to immerse yourself in history and have fun with the whole family.
