AN EVESHAM care home manager has been praised for her efforts in helping to keep the town clean and tidy.
Mary Tasker, together with her team from Hawthorns Care Home in Church Street, have been praised by the Evesham Place Board for volunteering to be part of the board’s little picking project.
The idea is for businesses to provide more than 100 cleaning sessions over the next 12 months armed with an electric vacuum litter collector affectionately described as ‘a ghostbuster-style cleaning pack’ due to its wearable design and powerful, targeted cleaning capability.
Phil Maclean, chair of the place board said: “It is fantastic to see local organisations, businesses and community leaders rolling up their sleeves to support Wychavon and help keep Evesham as clean as possible.
“Every bag collected and every small action really does make a difference.”

Mary, who is also a district councillor representing Evesham North, said: “For some years my husband Dave and I have spearheaded involvement in Anti-Litter Evesham by the local Labour Party and this is an extension of that drive.
“The Government has recently announced more funding to help councils combat fly-tipping but it is also important for every citizen to play their part in trying to protect our precious environment from the scourge of littering.”
