Do not miss first public consultation on future of Evesham shopping centre

A REMINDER that the public consultation event on the future of the Riverside Shopping Centre runs today (April 16)  from 4pm to 7pm at Evesham Town Hall.

Wychavon announced last month that it had finally acquired the site from former owner PJK Investments with the help of a £4.5million grant from Homes England, the Government’s housing and regeneration agency.

The existing building will be demolished and rebuilt as a mixed-use development, including residential, leisure, and retail units.

The new vision is to redevelop the site to reconnect the town centre to the historic Bell Tower and Abbey Park. The appearance of Market Square and Bridge Street will also be upgraded.

A demolition application is set to be submitted in May, and if approved in the summer, work could begin as early as 2027.

Existing businesses will be given notice to leave the centre and the building will remain open while this process is completed, which could take several months.

There will be a short presentation at 4.15pm, 5.15pm, and 6.15pm, giving an overview of the project and detailing the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Organised by Wychavon District Council, this event provides a chance for people to ask questions and share initial feedback.
