WEST Mercia Police are appealing for information to identify a woman they wish to speak to about a courier fraud that happened in Pershore in 2024.
Between April 15 and May 30 2024, an 89-year-old victim from Pershore was defrauded out of around £40,000 across several incidents after someone impersonated a police officer.
These incidents occurred both in person and over the phone, and the victim was told by the ‘officer’ that they needed their help with an investigation.
Police are now issuing an appeal on behalf of the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) who are leading the investigation and have been working through several lines of enquiry since the fraud was reported.
Courier fraud is when someone poses as a police officer, or someone from another trusted authority, and convinces their victim to hand over or transfer large sums of money.
Anyone who recognises this person, or has any other information which might help should call 101 and quote reference number 22/46155/24 to pass on what they know.
Alternatively, it can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers calling 0800 555 111 or online https://crimestoppers-uk.org/ which is 100 per cent anonymous.
