A SHOPLIFTER from Evesham shoplifter has been sentenced to 36 weeks in prison after being convicted of two counts of theft from a shop.

Dean Wilson, 40, of St Lawrence Road, was also convicted of failing to surrender to police bail on time when he appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on Monday, March 2.

Wilson was handed a 12-week custodial sentence for each of the theft from shop charges to run consecutively and a further 12-week term was invoked from a suspended sentence for a previous theft from shop offence.

He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation.

Police Sergeant Duncan Eades of the Evesham town centre team said: “We welcome the custodial sentence issued to Wilson, whose repeated shoplifting has significantly affected local retailers.

“This outcome reinforces our commitment to pursuing retail crime through the courts, where offenders may face imprisonment.

“Shoplifting is not a victimless offence -it impacts businesses, their employees, and the wider community.”
