A PLANT HIRE and road maintenance company in Evesham is opening up opportunities to join its dedicated training programme.
Jet Plant Hire, headquartered in Vale Park, is looking for applicants for a nine-month course that will equip trainees with the skills needed to start a career with the company, named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025 list.
Successful candidates will be trained to use road planing equipment, which involves damaged road surfaces being removed using a planing machine, before new surfaces are applied.
Successful applicants will be carrying out this vital work.
At a time when the construction industry faces a growing skills shortage, with more than one million workers set to retire within the next decade, initiatives like Jet School are key to securing a strong pipeline of talent, ensuring the business and wider industry continue to thrive.
Last year, Tyler Rock, from Evesham, became the first graduate of the Jet School.
The talented recruit had a variety of different jobs, from working in pubs to delivery driving, before joining the company.
After enjoying his training, he is continuing to thrive at the company, which has depots in both Evesham and Newton Abbot and is expanding its network with a new location in Yorkshire.
Tyler described his training as ‘a brilliant opportunity’ that saw him ‘learn from experienced colleagues to develop new skills’.
Managing director Simon Bithell said: “This is a unique and exciting opportunity to learn from our team and start an exciting, new career.
“Graduates will benefit from a structured career path, gain essential knowledge and have the opportunity to join a growing industry.
“We’re proud to lead the way in developing the future stars of the road planing industry.
“Our Jet School recruits are also educated on how to work safely and sustainably, fit for the future.”
The curriculum includes operating a planer, setting machine levels, depth checking, kerb cutting, general machine competency and basic maintenance.
