A BEACON of hope on eighteen wheels pulled out of the Teams4U warehouse in Evesham last Saturday (December 6), beginning a long journey across Europe.
The heavy goods vehicle was fully loaded with 8,444 gift-filled shoeboxes, destined to deliver joy to children in war-torn Ukraine who are facing a difficult winter amidst ongoing conflict.
The departure from the charity’s collection point in Davies Road marks the culmination of a regional Teams4u Shoebox Appeal, a massive logistical operation driven entirely by community spirit.

Trustee and volunteer Paul Jeanes said he wished to extend a heartfelt public thank you to the hundreds of individuals, schools, churches, and businesses who made this shipment possible.
“The figure of 8,444 boxes represents thousands of hours of unseen work,” he said.
For the children receiving them, these shoeboxes are often the only gift they will receive this Christmas. Each box contains essential hygiene items, warm clothing like hats and gloves, educational supplies, and toys.
“It is an emotional moment seeing the truck leave the yard,” he added. “We know that in a few days, these 8,444 boxes will be placed into the hands of children who desperately need a reason to smile.”
Paul and volunteers are shortly heading to Romania to visit one of the charity’s projects overseas and an after-school and homework club in the county of Bihor.
Teams4U is a small charity based in North Wales and operates through partners in Uganda, Sierra Leone and Eastern Europe.
