WYCHAVON and Malvern Hills District Councils played host to two prestigious visitors recently.

Helen Fadipe MBE, president of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and Maria Dunn, chair of RTPI West Midlands, visited the Civic Centre in Pershore as part of their commitment to championing the power of planning and celebrating success.

The visit followed Malvern Hills and Wychavon’s planning team winning West Midlands Planning Authority of the Year at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence in June.

During the visit, the pair were able to hear more about the two councils’ innovative and collaborative approach to delivering high-quality, sustainable communities, as well as their commitment to partnership working.

Officers also took them on a tour of the Worcestershire Parkway site, where a new town of 10,000 low-carbon homes is planned, with sustainability at the core of the vision for the place.

Ian MacLeod, director of planning and infrastructure for Malvern Hills District Council and Wychavon, said: “We were delighted to welcome Helen and Maria to Pershore to showcase the achievements of our planning team and our commitment to innovative, forward-looking planning that benefits our residents and the wider area.

“Their visit was a wonderful recognition of the hard work of the team.”
