THE FAMILY of Ryan Horton, who died in a crash near Honeybourne have paid tribute to a ‘caring and loving man’.

The 29-year-old was killed when his motorbike collided with a car on Sheenhill Road at around 7pm on October 31.

In a statement, the family said they had lost a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.

Ryan, or Fred, as he was known to family and close friends, was a caring man, they said, who had a passion for working in the prison service.

“He was an active gamer on his PC and XBox. He enjoyed diving deep into Halo and Star Wars. He played all the games and watched all the shows he could, linked to both,” they said.

“To try and imagine a life without Ryan in it for us all is near impossible but we will create a new normal as we know it’s what Ryan would want.

“Taken too soon and missed by us all daily but finally at peace with Nan and Grandad, so Ryan please do carry on looking down and checking in on us all.”

More than £5,100 has been raised through a GoFundMe set up by colleagues at HMP Long Lartin to raise money for his funeral arrangements.

“[Ryan] was a valued member of our team, known for his dedication, and the positive impact he had on everyone around.

“Losing someone so suddenly is never easy, and we hope this fund can ease some of the financial burden so the family can focus on honouring Ryan’s memory,” wrote the organiser.

Police are still looking for witnesses to the collision, or saw either vehicle – a Honda Motorbike or a Nissan Leaf car – in the moments before the incident.

Inspector Col Robinson from the Operation Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with Ryan’s family and friends.”

Witnesses should email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on [email protected] with information.
