THE SPIRIT of giving has shone brightly in Evesham this year thousands of gift-filled shoeboxes, ready for dispatch to vulnerable children in Romania and Ukraine.
A dedicated team of volunteers for the annual Teams4u Shoebox Appeal has so far successfully processed and packed over 13,000 boxes at the operation’s collection warehouse on the Davies Road in Evesham.
For several weeks, community members, local schools, churches and businesses have rallied to donate the shoeboxes, each filled with essential supplies, hygiene items, and toys.
The tireless efforts of the warehouse volunteers have now culminated in checking, sorting, and securely packing every single box, ensuring they meet export standards.
Spokesperson for the Evesham collection point, Paul Jeanes, expressed his overwhelming gratitude.
“To hit the 13,000 mark is truly phenomenal. It speaks volumes about the compassion and generosity of the Evesham and the wider community.
“Our volunteers, who gave up countless hours at the Davies Road warehouse are the absolute heart of this operation.
“Every single person who checked a box, taped a box, or lifted a carton has played a part in bringing light to a child’s life this Christmas,” he said.
The boxes are scheduled to leave Evesham within the next two weeks and will travel directly to children facing hardship in Eastern Europe, providing not just practical support but a moment of joy during the festive season.
Teams4u relies entirely on the support of local hubs like Evesham to manage the logistics of the annual appeal.
Organisers have said that this year’s success is a testament to the efficient and dedicated organisation within the town, ensuring that a record number of children will receive a gift this winter.
They have extended their deepest thanks to all donors, businesses, and volunteers for their contributions.
