PERSHORE RFC’s ladies touch team scooped medals in both the Midlands Ladies Touch League and Southwest MLTL competition.

Pershore won silver in the 20-team Midlands Touch League and bronze in the regional 10-team Southwest MLTL division.

Affiliated to the England Touch Association, the MLTL is the largest women’s touch league in Europe.

The league runs from March to October and the deciding MLTL ‘Super Sunday’ tournament took place in Redditch.

Pershore Touch chair, Fizz Bewley said: “Over the last year we have had a lot of fun playing 19 other Midlands Ladies Touch League teams twice.

“The four matches we played on the last Super Sunday – three wins and a draw – cemented what has been a very successful season for us from a points perspective too.

“Congratulations to everyone who has played in the team this season and supported us – especially coach Jamie Wyllie, photographers David Field and Carling Knight, our referees, Calum Andrews, Brian Watson and Xander Ibrahim.

“And a special mention to our two new players, who played for the team in the last Super Sunday – Tate and Julita – and Emmie Bewley, who was our team player of the tournament.

“Anyone can play touch because it is a limited-contact sport, and we are proud at Pershore to be one of the most, if not the most, inclusive touch centres in the region.

“We offer opportunities to train and play for women, men, juniors and retired or limited fitness players too, at a social or competitive level, and are part of a pathway from grassroots to regional, national and international touch competitions.”

Pershore Rugby’s touch section, for women and men aged 13-years-old and above, train on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm until 9pm.

The team are welcoming new players, whatever level of experience.
