New SEND sessions and to launch for families in Worcestershire

NEW play and respite sessions for Worcestershire families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) children are launching next week.

Two subsidised pilot programmes run by PAL Fitness CIC at the Worcester Warriors’ Sensory Room, Worcester, will offer crucial support, specialised activities, and much-needed short-term respite for parents and carers in the local area.

The facility offers a therapeutic and calming environment, featuring specialist lighting, sound, and interactive equipment, which creates a safe and multi-sensory retreat for children and their families.

The Sunday SEND Club is a seven-week pilot designed to give parents and carers a few hours of essential rest.

Children with SEND (Level 1 and 2, or Level 3 with a carer) or those who are neurodiverse can be left safely with PAL Fitness’s highly trained, enhanced DBS-checked staff.

The sessions will run for three and a half hours 10am to 1.30pm, starting on Sunday, November 9 and cost £30 per session.

Sunday Funday is sensory stay and play sessions that offer a supportive, inclusive environment where parents/carers stay and supervise their children while connecting and mixing with other families.

These free-play sessions will run twice daily from 10.30am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

They feature specialist activities like sensory lights, soft play, arts and crafts, and costs £5 per child.

A spokesperson said: “This Sunday Club offers a crucial few hours of respite for families in the Worcestershire area.

“It is not a holiday, but an essential break to allow parents and carers to recharge. We provide a safe, specialist, and engaging environment for the children.

“Parents can even stay on-site in a separate, comfortable reception area if they prefer to be nearby.”

PAL Fitness & Education CIC (Community Interest Company) is a Worcestershire-based organisation dedicated to supporting people who experience disadvantage.
