West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin offers backing to Marie Curie

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to a charity which offers end of life care for people with terminal illness.

The MP met with representatives from Marie Curie to hear about the work it does helping people cope with a life-limiting illness and support their carers and family members.

Dame Harriett has spoken up for the important hospice network, which provides support for people at the end of their lives but said she was eager to hear testimony directly from experts at the charity.

She said: “End of life care is incredibly important and it is something that most of us will experience in our lives either personally or with friends and family.

“The UK hospice network has been particularly vocal over the last year after the Government adding significant extra employment costs to the charity sector and I have spoken up for them strongly in Parliament.

“I was eager to hear if this is the case as well at Marie Curie and it was helpful to gain their insights as similar charities across the country cope with rising costs.”
