REPRESENTATIVES from the Polish Embassy came to Evesham town centre on Tuesday (September 30) in a celebration of community-led regeneration and entrepreneurial spirit.
Two senior figures, Consul General Renata Kowalska and Consul Agnieszka Fabryczewska-Chojnack were met and welcomed by a delegation of local dignitaries including MP Nigel Huddleston, mayor of Evesham, Councillor John Clatworthy and head of Evesham Place Board, Phil Maclean.
The visit marked a significant milestone in a campaign by Evesham Place Board to highlight the positive transformations taking place on the high street – many of which are being driven by Polish women-led businesses.
Against the backdrop of national challenges facing the high street, from shifting retail habits to economic pressures, the town partnership is working hard to buck those trends.

Richard Morris, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “Evesham’s high street revival is a shining example of how local enterprise and cultural diversity can drive regeneration.
“The energy and commitment shown by Polish women entrepreneurs is inspiring, and we’re proud to support a town that embraces innovation and inclusivity at its core.”
Phil Maclean, chair of the Evesham Place Board, added: “This celebration is more than symbolic. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when we work together.
“The Polish community, and especially the women leading these businesses, have played a transformative role in helping to revitalise our town centre.
“Their success stories are a powerful reminder that our high streets can thrive again through collaboration, creativity, and resilience.”
The event featured a walking tour of key businesses, cultural performances from Bengeworth Academy.
Nigel Huddleston MP, said: “I was honoured to take part in such a special event in Evesham, a true celebration of pride and unity in our community.
“The contribution of the incredible women of Polish heritage leading local businesses is something we can all be proud of, and the performance by the talented young people of Bengeworth Academy was a real highlight.
“I am also deeply grateful to Consul General Renata Kowalska and Consul Agnieszka Fabryczewska-Chojnack for joining us and helping make the day so memorable.”
