THE SALE of limited edition prints featuring Evesham’s most important historic building has contributed more than £4,000 to its imminent repair.

Two unique watercolour and pen artworks depicting the front and back of the 14th Century Almonry Museum had been offered by Vale of Evesham Civic Society (VECS) in August 2024.

The idea behind the project was Brian Chilvers who bought both the original paintings by local artist Lesley Brockbank after they had been entered in competitions at the Vale of Evesham Arts Society exhibition in 2022 and 2024.

As a competition judge for 20 years the works had caught his eye when he awarded them the top spot in the best local scene category in separate years.

“I am thrilled that our decision to sell high-quality prints of the Almonry have been so well received. The museum, which is the most visually significant building in Evesham, will continue to tell an important story about the town’s past and present,” Brian said.

Sales and donations of £6,500 from 36 prints resulted in £4,500 presented to the Almonry manager Ashley Jayes on the last day it was open before the refurbishment project.

Ashleigh added: “We are so grateful to Brian from VECS for spearheading this fundraising campaign and to Leslie the artist for allowing Brian to use her beautiful paintings.

“Also thanks to everyone who bought prints or donated to the fundraising. Every penny of this incredible donation will go towards the Almonry project.”

The Giclée prints produced by Iris Print of Hanley Swan and framed by Evesham-based Roman Moor.
