EVESHAM United suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at high-flying Walton and Hersham to lose on the road for the first time this season.

The Robins fell behind to Dawid Rogalski’s early goal before Levi Steele drew the visitors level on the half-hour mark at Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub.

However, Elliott Bolton put the home side back in front just before the hour mark with the Robins unable to find a second equaliser despite Walton’s Johl Powell seeing red on 65 minutes.

The result means Evesham sit 14th in the Southern League Premier South table.

Walton broke the deadlock after just three minutes when Rogalski found the top left corner from six-yards out from Jack Wood’s cross.

However, Evesham equalised on 30 minutes as Will Owens crossed for Steele to head the ball past Josiah Barker at the back post.

The home side reclaimed the lead on 56 minutes when Bolton’s low shot from 25-yards out squirmed under Evesham goalkeeper Jenson Kilroy.

However, Walton had Powell sent off on 65 minutes after he received a second yellow card for simulation with the Robins unable to make the extra man count.

Evesham are next in action against Hungerford Town on Tuesday, September 9 with kick-off at 7.30pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
