PLANS for a new ‘state-of-the-art’ health and wellness club have been unveiled in Evesham.
David Lloyd Leisure is consulting on proposals for a new location at The Valley retail and leisure park that will bring between 80 and 100 permanent jobs to the district.
Facilities will include a state-of-the-art gym, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool, racquet facilities, group exercise studios, spa and clubroom.
The proposed site is situated within The Valley, adjacent to one of the centre’s main car parks and close to the A46 and Twyford Roundabout.
Councillor Craig Reeves, independent Wychavon representative for Harvington and Norton, welcomes the proposal.
“It’s exciting and encouraging to hear that David Lloyd has earmarked Evesham’s The Valley as a location for their next club. The investment will create employment opportunities and further promote health and well-being in the local community.
“I’m grateful to have already engaged with the agents and brought to their attention the traffic congestion that we see in the immediate area.
“The proposed development is an opportunity for Worcestershire County Council and Highways to collaborate on improvements to the Twyford roundabout and Valley access.
“My suggestions, should they be viable, include a potential slip road from the A46 Southbound, a safe pedestrian crossing and improvements to the Twyford roundabout lane layout.
“The facility offers more weight to the proposed Greenway project, which sees Evesham’s Common Road connect with The Valley and beyond, to and from Harvington and Norton, with a safe walking, wheeling and cycling route,” he said.

People have until Tuesday, September 9 to complete an online consultation, with comments used to help form a planning application being submitted to Wychavon District Council.
