PERSHORE Liberal Democrats have announced their candidate for the upcoming town by-election in the St Andrews ward on September 25.

Freelance artist Holly Davies who lives in the ward, will stand in a two-way race to become the next town councillor.

Holly attended local schools and until recently worked in hospitality, running the Miller’s Arms in Bridge Street.

“I’m really excited to be running in this by-election to potentially join a team known for their hard work. As a resident of St Andrews, I want to make sure our town has the representation it deserves.

“I’ve worked locally for my entire career and know how important our high street is for many of us who don’t drive.

“I’m looking forward to working with fellow councillors to support local businesses and ensure residents can access what they need, when they need it.

“As a former publican, I know how vital our hospitality industry is and will always support our local pubs and bars,” she said.

Liberal Democrat county councillor for Pershore, Dan Boatright-Greene, added: “I’m so pleased Holly has agreed to stand for the Liberal Democrats in this by-election.

“She has some great ideas and will bring a fresh perspective to the council. Having spent much of her career in hospitality, Holly understands the challenges our town is facing and how the town council can support pubs, bars, and restaurants in these difficult times.”

The other candidate standing in the poll is Paul Wallis for Reform UK, also from Pershore.
