A CELEBRATION of the humble plum throughout August was brought to a close this bank holiday weekend with thousands of people thronging the streets of Pershore.
The annual festival, which has been running since 1996, featured a host of activities and attractions from cookery demonstrations to sales of the fruit that has historic associations with the area.
Bike Night entertained motorcyclists in Broad Street on Thursday, August 21 and the free open-air cinema at Abbey Park proved popular on Saturday.
On Sunday, August 24 a family fun day brought out the crowds to enjoy food, music and more, whilst on Monday, the streets were thronging with the multitudes seeking a plum treat from a broad range of stallholders filling the town centre.
Plum mascots Prunella and Eggbert were out on the streets welcoming visitors along with Queen Victoria and the plum posse, Ava Magee, aged 10, Lizzie Brindley, eight and seven-year-old Arthur Lawes.
Organiser Alan Clark said: “We’d like to thank everyone who joined us this weekend in celebrating all things Pershore and all things Plum. We hope they enjoyed themselves.
“A big thank you goes to all of our wonderful sponsors and supporters and our fantastic Pershore Plum Festival Committee, who are instrumental in making the event happen.”
