AN E-SCOOTER has been seized in Evesham after the owner attempted to evade officers.
Town centre officers PC Johns and PC Beards were on foot patrol in Evesham town centre yesterday when they spotted a male riding the e-scooter near Waitrose.
Despite the owners attempts to evade officers, their persistence and local knowledge meant he was later located and stopped.
The e-scooter was seized and appropriate action was taken. West Mercia Police have issued a reminder that while it is legal to buy e-scooters, using them in public places is currently illegal unless used in a Government-approved trial.
Under the Road Traffic Act 1988, e-scooters are classified as motor vehicles, meaning the same rules apply—including having a valid licence and insurance.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We continue to patrol the town centre to keep our community safe and address issues that matter to you. Thank you for your continued support.”
