EVESHAM’S Almonry museum is gearing up for a family-friendly summer of fun with plenty of children’s activities running six days a week.

The 14th Century building which was once home to the almoner of the town’s former Benedictine Abbey has lots to keep youngsters amused with garden games, and trails to dressing up as a knight.

The heritage centre has free entry from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm with craft packs costing £1. A tranquil garden provides a green space to enjoy a picnic.

Meanwhile on Saturday, July 19 and 26, visitors can join the Friends of the Almonry Museum for a guided tour and talk from 2pm to 4pm led by heritage roofing specialist Richard Jordan.

People can find out more about the vital works needed to save this historic gem in the heart of Evesham, as Richard shares his expertise and knowledge.

There will also be a talk on the historical perspective of the Almonry led by The Vale of Evesham Historical Society. Free entry.

The 600-year building at Abbey Gate is in need of significant repair and will be closing on September 20 for approximately two years for a complete renovation with a £2.1m Arts Council England grant.

The tourist information and shop will relocate across the road to 1 to 3 Merstow Green (former Sheldon Bosley Knight office).
